Demonstrations and vigils against dog slaughter in Turkey

We do not look away! It is estimated that there are hundreds of thousands of street dogs living in Turkey – many of them born free, others abandoned or uprooted by human activity.

These animals are part of the cityscape for many people: they sleep in parks, follow walkers and some are even looked after by local residents. But now the animals are experiencing a wave of state-planned violence.

Under the pretext of averting danger, the Turkish government has ordered the mass killing of street dogs – across the board, without behavioral testing, without protection for the countless peaceful animals.

This mass slaughter has sparked worldwide outrage. Animal rights activists, organizations and committed people from many countries are standing up to raise their voices for those who have none.
