Whereby the Sheffield box is primarily important for me. My special Sheffield backpack, but mainly for traveling. Because it contains all the things that make me feel good and ensure a pleasant journey. But what belongs in this rucksack?
Checklist for traveling with a dog:
All documents: EU pet passport for EU travel, health certificate and veterinary certificate for travel outside the EU, proof of ownership, insurance documents (originals and copies)
Water bowl and still water
Spare leash and collar (with telephone number) in case the chip cannot be read out
Sometimes, unfortunately, a muzzle is mandatory in some places
My favorite basket, possibly with a blanket
Enough prey (food) including bowls, cutlery and, if necessary Can opener
Favorite toy, plastic bag for daily business ;)
Comb/brush, towel, moisturizing shampoo (if your four-legged friend likes to go into the sea, I don’t like it in the water, but I hear there are colleagues who think it’s cool ;))
Just in case
Anyone traveling with a dog should definitely think about a small first-aid kit. Not just for senior citizens like me, but for all age groups, the owner should have the following in their luggage:
Tick tweezers (my mistress always uses them to get all the critters out without pain, they’re really cool)
Tweezers for removing dirt and foreign bodies from wounds
Hypoclorine disinfectant and healing spray (great from personal experience, also helps our cats ;))
Wound ointment (e.g. for cracked paws),
Disposable syringe (administration of medication, eye rinsing)
Bach flower emergency drops or an individual Bach flower mixture
Some dressing material (gauze swabs, gauze bandage, elastic bandage, Leukoplast and scissors)
If, like me, your four-legged friend needs permanent medication, pack plenty of this too. If your loved one is ill, you should have information about their condition and the illness with you in the local language.
